Yiradhu marang! 


My name is Elijah Miima Money — a Wiradjuri trans queer man and multidisciplinary creative freelancer based in Narrm (Melbourne).

I was born on the border of Dharug and Wiradjuri Country (NSW) and primarily raised on Boon Wurrung Country (Mornington Peninsula). In 2016, I relocated to Narrm to pursue an Arts degree at the University of Melbourne, taking my time to work throughout semesters and travel during breaks before finally completing my studies in 2022.

Miima (mee.mah) is one of the many Wiradjuri words for "star" and I'm fortunate to carry it as my middle name; you’ll see this as a reocurring theme!

I don't take the privilege of working as a full-time creative for granted and I bring that same care to the range of work I do — event producing, acting, festival art installations, silver and goldsmithing, drag story time (as some brief examples). I often describe myself as career "greedy"; there's always more to learn and experience, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Compassion and warmth are the foundations of how I work which I try to carry into everything I create. At the heart of it all is re-centring queer Blak joy and uplifting other queer Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mob, reclaiming our narrative is one of the most powerful things we can do.

After more than 10 years in this industry, it felt like time to bring my work together in one place and make it easier for people to reach me. This site doesn't capture every project or event I've been part of, but I'd love for you to explore some of the work along the way.






Notes:
- throughout the site, both myself and others (collaborators, curators, externals) use the term ‘Blak’ in reference to Destiny Deacon’s ongoing legacy and impact. Destiny Deacon coined the term Blak without the 'c' back in 1994, reclaiming and re-contextualising the word. Today, the word 'Blak' is embraced by many First Nations people across the continent as a signifier for identity.  Read more about Destiny Deacon here.
